About this piece
Four panels, each cut through by hand. Two carry calligraphy, two carry geometric lattice drawn from traditional Islamic pattern work. Lit from within, the cut-away areas become the light source and throw the pattern across the walls and ceiling.
Use a warm LED bulb or an LED candle rather than an open flame. The glow changes character entirely with the colour of the bulb, and most people prefer the warmest one they can find.
Care
Dust with a dry or barely damp cloth along the grain. Keep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. Full care guide.
