There is no victory without Allah

‘And there is no victory save from Allah’ occurs in ayat 126 of Surah Imran and is a strong reminder of human dependence on Allah and the source of success coming solely from Him. The central word nasr encompasses a diverse range of meanings: tributaries of a river, rain falling on arid land; to aid, to assist in repelling an attack; to triumph; to become impregnable.

This verse occurs in the context of the Battle of Uhud and the support Allah sent to the Muslims in their moment of need. The diversity of meanings present in this term conveys deep symbolism. The relief Allah provides to his servant in need is likened to the cooling water that relieves dry land. The waters of relief not only replenish our physical needs but also wash away the inner doubts present during difficulty.
